| The site is obviously limited in certain ways compared to actually being in person and roleplaying around a table. For that reason, the below has been assembled in order to help you use the tools provided here:
1. Keep to 1 character at a time, or make sure your DM(s) know that you are using multiple characters because that is nto how the forum is designed to function, so changes will have to be made to accomodate.
2. The character information on each member's profile is designed FOR ONE CHARACTER, it is also not comprehensive and only covers the neccesities of the Dungeons and Dragons game. Other information must be posted elsewhere and must be referenced from there.
3. The forum is designed for Dungeons and Dragons 3.5, and may or may not accomodate newer or older versions. Playing with other versions will require the cooperation of your players and also work on your parts, the forum will not change to accomodate your version.
4. Though you can edit your character on your profile at any time, please only do so with the approval of your DM. If you do not comply with this, the DM may remove you from his/her game.
5. The dice are designed to be rolled once, and editting your post will cause the dice to roll again. Do NOT edit posts when able, dicsuss with your DM how to handle the editting of posts if you're not sure what to do.
6. When posting, allow the DM to post first and describe the setting or area, or describe the results of whatever actions occured. Discuss with your DM whether you or the DM will roll the die. As a general rule, don't confirm a hit on your post because you may not actually hit them, even if you get a natural 20.
7. Each player and DM should have a copy of the neccesary books that they will be using. Dungeon Magazine or Dragon Magazine ma also provide materials. Make sure the materials you use are approved by your DM. Do NOT ask for links to download books, because it's illegal to pirate the books and will get the site in trouble.
8. Post order should be the same as combat order in battle, this just makes things easier for everyone involved. The DM should post when it is a monster or NPCs turn in the combat order.
9. Dont Meta-Game, I shouldn't really have to say it, but don't do it. Your DM will not be pleased, most likely, and it will create problems that shouldn't need to exist.
10. When you use monsters/feats/classes/spells/etc., make sure that every player has access to the neccesary information about that thing. Its best to all have a copy of the books you'll be using for this purpose.
11. If your DM has a style for your character's information to be posted, obide by that, they often do this so they can find information they need quickly.
12. When possible, do not get involved with other games unless you've discussed it with the other group and decided to combine campaigns or share an adventure or two. Mkae sure both DMs agree on rules when this occurs. | |
